PUBLIC DEBATE
This 9^th debate in the 2011/12 programme Design and Politics: The Next Phase explored what design can bring to spatial planning. In a recent design studio at ANCB, professors and students from the TU Delft took on key ideas raised in the previous eight Design & Politics debates, while simultaneously developing design-based tools for spatial planning at the scale of the urban region. Presented as examples, the design studio outcomes  prompted a wider discussion on the potential of design for spatial planning - as process, tool, discourse and culture. The Public Debate was followed by an expert roundtable discussion on the role of Baukultur in such an approach to spatial planning.
