What Is Good Architecture?

What is good architecture? Everyone wants good architecture, whether architects, critics or users. But what is really good? Opinions differ widely on this crucial question. That's why gallery owner Kristin Feireiss, author Michael Schindhelm and architect Konrad Wohlhage each use an example to explain which 20th century building they consider to epitomise good architecture and what the reasons for this are. Their contributions have been published in the book "What is good architecture?", which provides 21 answers to this fundamental question of architecture. It was edited by the Berlin architecture critic Jürgen Tietz.

Other authors include the politicians Björn Engholm and Otto Graf Lambsdorff, the conductor Kent Nagano, the architecture critics Roman Hollenstein and Falk Jaeger as well as the architects Dietmar Eberle, Adolf Krischanitz, Regine Leibinger and Matthias Sauerbruch.Following the reading, Kristin Feireiss, Michael Schindhelm and Konrad Wohlhage will discuss with Jürgen Tietz what makes good architecture and what framework conditions must be in place for its creation.

Afterwards, over a glass of wine, there will be an opportunity to discuss the topic in more depth with the authors and the publisher of the book "Was ist gute Architektur?" (What is good architecture?).
