Bewegtes Land
Bewegtes Land/ Land in Motion
Lusatia is both arena and showplace of the Internationale Bauausstellung (IBA) Fürst-Pückler-Land 2000-2010. The IBA Work Exhibition 2005 will be a mid-term review of the IBA and take a look ahead to the coming five years.
Still before the Work Exhibition will be opened in mid-April 2005 in Lusatia, the extensive and versatile program of the IBA Work Exhibition_Preview will be shown for the first time. A small, illustrative show will inform visitors at Hackesche Höfe not only about landscape and structural changes in the former lignite mining district at the Brandenburg-Saxony border, but also about numerous activities.
The Internationale Bauausstellung in Lusatia is the first such event to focus on landscape.
IBA work includes development and implementation of concepts for a region that was characterised by lignite mining and industry for decades. The disused open cuts are being flooded and a new lake district will emerge.
Exemplary projects of urban conversion, dealing with the industrial culture heritage as well as with industrial housing estates, renewable energies and touristic uses of the post-mining interim landscapes are further key topics of the IBA in Lusatia.
The exhibition in the Aedes East Extension Pavilion designed by mesh design will display all 24 IBA projects on 24 bricks which give an impression of their diversity, the vastness of the planning area and the IBA objectives in Lusatia.
It will also invite all visitors to come to the IBA Work Exhibition proper in Lusatia from mid-April to end-October 2005 and see the major exhibition "Bewegtes Land" [Land in Motion] at the IBA Terraces in Großräschen or familiarise themselves with the projects on site.
A catalog will be published with the preview in AedesBerlin that presents a number of projects, such as the Visitor Mine F60 near Finsterwalde, the IBA Terraces in Großräschen or the Floating Houses for the newly emerging lakes in Lusatia. The preview exhibition panels can be bought during the IBA Work Exhibition 2005 in smaller size as card decks under the name "Lausitz_Memo-see".
