EXHIBITION

Under the motto “New Housing for Berlin!” the ‘HOWOGE Wohnungsbaugesellschaft mbH’ housing association introduces ten exemplary projects from their current housing initiative. The state-run company has launched an ambitious new housing program to meet set goals by means of tailor-made processes and the participation of citizens, experts, and policy makers. The targets are ambitious: HOWOGE aims to build 1,500 apartments per year. A large number of these must be rented out at especially affordable rates. The projects featured in the exhibition show the wide range of approaches and demonstrate the high quality of the resulting buildings and neighborhoods – where fast, low-cost construction is implemented to meet high demands placed on architecture, urban design, and open space planning.

With its portfolio of around 59,000 apartments, HOWOGE is one of Germany’s ten largest property owners. Since 1990 it has been committed to the sustainable development of its portfolio, innovative housing concepts, and social engagement, particularly in the districts of Lichtenberg, Hohenschönhausen, Treptow-Köpenick, Weissensee, and Pankow.
